We are a mother-and-son trial team, and the law runs deeper than the two of us. My father and grandfather were attorneys. My son’s grandmother served as a judge. This work has been in our family for generations, and we do not take that lightly.
Our own experience came from police work, from prosecution, from criminal defense, and from years spent inside an insurance company as an adjuster. Along the way we learned what it costs a person to stand across from the full weight of the state or a billion-dollar insurance company — the sleeplessness, the fear of what comes next, the feeling that everyone in the room understands the process except you.
We have seen how those settlement offers are calculated. We know how little the number has to do with what you lost.
And we have never learned to be casual about any of it. There are nights we do not sleep, looking for the theory, the argument, sometimes the single word that turns a case. We look for it because we know what is on the other side of it — a person who goes home instead of to prison, a family that can pay for the surgery, a life that goes one way instead of the other. We have never once treated that as routine, and we never will.
But the paperwork is not what we learned most. We learned that the truth of a case is never in the file. It is in the person sitting across the table — what happened to them, what it took from them, and what they are afraid to say out loud. That is the story a jury needs to hear, and telling it the way you lived it is the whole of our work.

I have fought in courtrooms, on city streets, and across negotiation tables — for people broken by trauma, and for people accused by the state.
My work lives in the invisible battlefields: the early phase where evidence gets buried, where a story still needs breath, and where a person’s whole future is quietly won or lost. She learned that systems either serve people, or fail them.
Before the law, Vyvian founded and ran an early-childhood education company in Arizona — and grew it to more than 900 families and a Top Early Education Program award. She built every piece of it herself: enrollment, curriculum, staff, compliance. It taught her a lesson she has never let go of — that a system is only as good as the way it treats the most vulnerable person inside it. She would spend the rest of her career walking into broken systems and demanding they do better.
She wore the badge, so she knows exactly where the bodies are buried.
Vyvian served as a detention officer, a police officer, and for twelve years a detective with the Phoenix Police Department in its Strategic Planning and Professional Standards Bureau. She audited law enforcement conduct from the inside. She built the accountability systems that flag misconduct and reduce use-of-force incidents. She earned the Chief’s Distinguished Service Award. This is the part most defense lawyers can only guess at: she knows how a report is written, how an interrogation is run, how a search goes wrong, and precisely where an officer cut a corner — because she spent years on the other side of that table.
She carried the state’s burden — and learned what it takes to break it.
As a Deputy County Attorney, Vyvian prosecuted serious felonies: violent assaults, narcotics, and sex crimes. She built cases with detectives and forensic teams, prepared witnesses, and made charging decisions. But she approached every file not as a conviction to be won — as a truth to be revealed. That chair taught her exactly how a prosecution is constructed, which means she knows exactly where it can come apart. When the state’s case is aimed at you now, it is aimed by someone who once sat where they sit.
She built her own firm to fight for the accused and the injured.
As founder and lead attorney, Vyvian has defended people accused of crimes across every kind of court — municipal, superior, rural, urban — and she has been trusted by police unions themselves to represent officers in critical-incident cases. She drafts surgical pre-trial motions that turn a suppressed piece of evidence into a collapsed case. She builds client-specific roadmaps that protect a job, a professional license, an immigration status, a family. And when trial becomes necessary, she puts the human story in front of the jury, unvarnished and undeniable.
She learned to turn suffering into a story a jury cannot ignore.
Vyvian trained in the Gerry Spence Method — the most demanding approach to trial advocacy in the country — and brought that craft to catastrophic injury and wrongful-death work. Traumatic brain injuries, amputations, spinal trauma, fatal collisions. She builds liability assessments, causation chains, and medical timelines that turn chaos into clarity, and she writes demand narratives that move a claim out of the commodity lane and into a number the insurance company cannot walk away from. She partners with neurosurgeons, life-care planners, and forensic economists to value not just the injury, but the whole life it changed.
